How did Fale Polynesia- Orange County Start?
Our Co- Founder, Kanani Asuega, comes from a long line of culture- keepers. Her grandmother, Florence Lokelani Ka'ahanui Broderick or best known as 'Loke", started a small Polynesian Group called Lokelani's Polynesian Revue. She then passed her group on to her daughter and son-in law, Kathy and Roy Asuega, Kanani's parents. They then transitioned the name into Lokelani's Rhythm of The Islands. For the last 35 years, Lokelani's has been one of the top and longest dance studios in Orange County, California. They travelled the world sharing memorable Polynesian Dance performances including places like Japan, Western Samoa, and all over the USA. On top of their unique Lu'au show, Lokelani's was an award winning Tahitian Dance Group. Aunty Kathy is and continues to be an award-winning costume designer. Her creations have graced many stages and dancers. Uncle Roy is known for his impeccable voice! He is now best known as our communities leading Emcee.

In the year of 2024, Uncle and Aunty have decided to retire their roles as studio owners. They have now eagerly passed on their studio to daughter Kanani Asuega and son-in-law 'Ofaloto Kuma. As Kanani and 'Ofaloto embark on their journey as artist and business owners, they have created a name for themselves, which is the now Fale Polynesia.
